There are certain items that you should
bring when making an offshore trip. Sunscreen is one of the
most important. It gets very warm here in the deep south, and when you
factor in the sun's reflection off the water, sunscreen becomes a necessity.
You may also need a hat to protect you from the sun.
Alcohol is permitted, however, moderation
is urged because getting intoxicated 50 miles offshore could be dangerous.
No glass bottles or hard liquor please. Don't forget to bring your camera, there are many
sights and marine life you will want to remember.
Please
don't wear black-soled shoes as they often mark the deck severely. Boat
shoes are recommended as are polarized sunglasses which enable the angler to
more easily see fish below the water's surface. If you are prone to motion
sickness consider taking precautions to prevent this from spoiling your trip.
On day trips please bring your own food
and drinks. NO BANANAS! (bad luck)
The mate works hard for you for little pay. A gratuity
of 15-20% of the trip cost is appreciated |
